Jaunito in Ejido is a new addition to dining north of town

by John Pack

When something great comes to San Felipe, the buzz really gets around. Open only a few short weeks, Juanitos is the surprise winner of “Best Restaurant For Mexican Food” in The Best of San Felipe voting. This small restaurant on the north end of the Ejido, next to Moto 2000, is the latest entry into an already fabulous dining community.

Owner and Chef Juan Aguilar Rodriguez is a life long resident of San Felipe. His favorite dishes are fish and shrimp, like Shrimp Garlic Style or the large grilled shrimp Brochetas de Camaron, both $8.50. Or your choice of Breaded Shrimp, Ranch Style Shrimp, Spicy Style Shrimp, and Fish Garlic Style for just $6.00. There’s Fish Veracruzana Style, grilled and breaded or the combination of Filet with Shrimp for only $9.00.

Along with the wonderful selection of shrimp and fish, Juanitos whips up the most flavorful Mexican standards such as beef and chicken enchiladas, tacos and burritos dinners for $4.00, or combinations for $4.50.

If you’re in the mood for steak, they also have Filet Mignon for $9.00, a New York for $9.00 or a combination of Filet Mignon and Shrimp for only $12.00. For lunch you have a choice of Tortas for $2.50 or burgers and fries for $3.50.

A large breakfast selection rounds out the menu, everything from standard huevos and meat to omelets and hotcakes for $3.50, or Chilaquiles with eggs for $4.00. Juanitos’ menu is simple and affordable. Comfortable seating inside or outside for quintessential Mexican dining.
