San Felipe Christmas Light Parade

by Juan Tapia

For a small port town in the middle of the Baja desert, San Felipe packs an impressive little Xmas parade. El Desfile de Luces, goes on every year with a good number of trailer platforms and other vehicles decorated with lights, tinsel and a bunch of munchkins dressed as miniature Santas, elves, raindeers and other denizens of Yule time.

The streets are lined with happy faces, and kids scurrying about to catch candy from the floats.
This year, perhaps for reasons of the change of guard at the DelegaciĆ³n, there was little notice and the event was missed by some.

In past parades, barney cars (sand modified vehicles) from the snowbird ranks would participate and help in the general glee. We hope next year to have them back and join the fun.
FELIZ NAVIDAD a todos en San Felipe!!
