NEWS & POLITICS - 5.3-magnitude earthquake Thursday at 9:44 a.m.

Moderate earthquake rattles Baja California
A 5.3-magnitude earthquake rattled Baja California, Mexico, on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said.

The moderate earthquake was about 11 miles (18 km) west-southwest of Guadalupe VIctoria, Baja California, and about 32 miles (51 km) south-southeast of Mexicali, Baja California&.8217;s capital, the USGS said.

The earthquake occurred at 9:44 a.m. (12:44 p.m. ET) and was 6.2 miles (10 km) deep, the USGS said.

Maria Peinado of the Imperial County Office of Emergency of Services in California said no damages or injuries have been reported.

Crews from CNN affiliate KGTV in El Centro, California, reported feeling the quake.

A 7.2 earthquake shook the region Sunday, killing two people and injuring more than 200, Baja California Gov. Jose Guadalupe Osuna said, according to the state-run Notimex news agency.
