LORETO - Caritas Charity Organization

All of their funds come from donations, usually given at Sunday mass at the Mission church in town, however because many people are out of work, each week they collect less and less as the need becomes even greater.
The Caritas office is on the side street at the North end of the church. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5-7pm the needy come (even sent by DIF because they have no funds) the sick, young and old, with no means to purchase medicine or buy bus fare to hospitals in Constitucion or La Paz; families where neither the husband nor wife has work resulting in no shelter, no food, no clothing.
On Tuesdays and Fridays they hold sewing classes to provide a skill so that some people can/will eventually have a means of supporting themselves. They only have one working machine, but really need three more to support the classes. Any old sewing machines in your closets???? Think about donating them to Caritas.
During the year they are committed to feeding the most needy and would like to be able to provide as many "Pantry Baskets" a month as possible that include: rice, beans, oil, milk (dry & shelf life) cereal, sugar, salt, soup bases, canned veggies and tuna, and soap. So far this year they have only been able to provide about 120 such Baskets.
At Christmas time they visit and provide the outlying Ranchos with donated and new clothing, blankets, shoes, jacket, sweaters and pants. They are trying to provide 20 pairs of shoes for girls and children, and 8 pairs of men's shoes size 7, 7 1/2, and 8.
To as many Ranchos as possible, like the 8 families (very poor) at San Juanico, they take the fixings for a Christmas dinner on Dec. 23rd; chicken, beans, sodas etc. so that the family can prepare a dinner the night of Dec. 24th.

Blessing to all of you who do so much for the community!
