ENSENADA - 32nd Annual La Misión Fiesta

May 28 & 29: 32nd Annual La Misión Fiesta
A family style country festival with parades, rodeo contests, cultural exhibitions, regional foods, live entertainment and a Saturday night Cowboy Camp & Bonfire. It is held at the site of San Miguel Arcangel de la Frontera Mission at Km. 65.5 on the Tijuana-Ensenada Free Road (from Toll Road, take La Fonda exit). The fiesta kicks off on Saturday with rodeo demonstrations at 3pm; a special presentation by folkloric dancers from Nogales, Sonora at 4pm; the 14th Annual State Calabaceado Dance Festival at 4:30pm; and a bonfire, Kumiai song and dance, and local Calabaceado Dance Contest at 8pm. Sunday festivities begin with the opening of the “Microhistory of the settlement of La Misión” exposition at 8am; a civic parade at 10am; folkloric dance groups from 12:30-5:15pm (including the exceptional “Dance of the Bighorn Sheep” at 12:55pm); theCabalgata Histórica (procession of costumed horseback riders) at 2:35pm; rodeo events at 3pm; and a special performance of “Nativo,” a contemporary dance production based on the history of Baja California, at 5:30pm.
