Premiere of Festival Film Created By Rosarito Residents Will Benefit the Local Boys and Girls Club

September 1st, 2011: Rosy Torres, the President of the Club de Ninos y Ninas Sección Rosarito, announced today that the film produced and directed by Samuel Paredes Valdespino and Michelle Hinojo Oceguera, featuring the events of the three-day 1st Annual Rosarito Beach International Mariachi & Folklórico Festival, will have its initial premiere international screenings at an iconic local venue this month.. The project was officially sanctioned and funded by the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Playas de Rosarito (COTUCO).
The first screening, to be held in the Rosarito Beach Hotel’s Salon Mexicano, is scheduled for September 17th and will actually feature two separate showings, one beginning at Noon, the other at 6:00 PM. All residents of Rosarito are cordially invited to attend. The admission price is $3.00 for each person; please note that this includes a complimentary soda and popcorn. The second, to be held in the same location, will primarily be for the attendees of the 2nd Annual Festival, as well as anyone who could not attend on 9/17; the date of the second screening is Thursday, September 29th, and the place, time, price and complimentary refreshment policy will be the same. 100% of the net proceeds from these screenings, as well as any on-site sales of signed DVDs and mariachi books, will go to the benefit of the local Boys and Girls Club.
The two young film makers have also created an award-winning short film as part of a competition for local cinematic talent funded by Boston’s EmersonCollege. That school’s panel of experts, under the auspices of the renowned Professor Gregory Payne, chose their work, “Rediscovering Rosarito” as the grand prize winner. This five-minute masterpiece will be screened immediately prior to the First Festival Film DVD on both dates. A short Question and Answer session for the audience, filmmakers, and festival organizers will follow.
